About Kirsty
My Profile
I previously worked in the care sector for 10 years as a residential and community worker and manager in the youth justice field for the local authority. In these roles I was responsible for working with young people admitted to emergency residential care, young offenders, adult offenders and people with substance misuse problems. My next step was managing Mentors and Befrienders in the voluntary sector. This proved to be a highly successful phase in my development and the project received acclaim through the Approved Provider Standard issued through the Scottish Mentoring Network as ‘one of the best applications assessed’ in over 400 UK wide contenders. The project then went on to secure the largest amount of money to date from Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland Partnership Drugs Initiative. I am also a qualified care manager and was a staff trainer licensed in proactive and physical interventions for a national charity providing training and assessment to around 100 people per year. I also carried out internal inspections of the charities residential care facilities as an independent manager. I continued to occasionally work in a residential environment until the latter part of 2007.
In the summer of 2008 I became a freelance consultant in fundraising, project development and training and also took over the role of independent training officer at Volunteering Highland. It is my aim to provide good quality training and services to enhance project development.
In my spare time I am a keen painter and commit myself to volunteering in a variety of forms.
