Advice workers interview clients and allow the client to explain their problem and asking questions. We use our electronic information system to find the correct information and explain to the client what their choices are so s/he can decide what to do. We give practical help, for example helping to fill forms and negotiating with third parties on the client's behalf. We the record all cases so that further help can be given if a client returns to the bureau. We also collect evidence to exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally.

Giving guide dogs short walks while participants are in forum sessions. Assisting with providing lunch and refreshments - tea-making skills are a definite bonus! Possibly handling the roving microphone in some sessions; note-taking in others. Anticipating and providing general assistance to participants, as needed.

 Save the Children's Golf Club Tournament involves golf clubs from across Scotland who holds their own qualifying competitions, and culminates in the Finals Day at Glenbervie Golf Club, Stirlingshire, in September 2011. The assistant’s role will be part of a small volunteer committee delivering the event with the support and guidance from Save the Children staff. This roll will be vital to the success of the tournament, and will give valuable experience of event organisation as well as an insight into how Save the Children both here and around the world. The assistant's main task will be to help secure prizes and sponsorship for the event, including making initial approaches, following up opportunities and ongoing liaison.

This Scheme is run by the Volunteer Centre for vulnerable people that require a ‘one off job’, such a gardening or DIY.   Volunteers go out to houses in the community and do anything from painting a room to changing a light bulb or strimming the garden to planting bulbs.

Farmland bird surveys are offered to all farmers and crofters throughout the Highlands and Western Isles. When a farmer requests a survey we match them up with a trained local volunteer. This involves carrying out 3 or 4 farm surveys during April-July and recording all birds seen and heard on to the farm map. Volunteering for this project provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about farmland birds and allows us to give specific advice to individual farmers based on the species found.

Pet Fostering Service Scotland  look for when assessing a foster carer's home differs depending on the species they wish to foster. We ask that all foster carers be able to safely keep foster cats indoors and foster dogs on a leash outdoors. You will be contacted by PFSS when there is a need for a home visit in your area, you will contact the potential volunteer and arrange a time for the home visit to take place. We have some standard home visit paperwork that is completed for each foster home.
